Frequently asked questions
Questions employers, registrars, and certificate holders ask most often.
The ID is printed directly on the certificate, usually near the bottom edge or beneath the recipient's name. It also appears in the confirmation email sent when the credential was issued.
A verified result confirms that the certificate ID matches an active record in the issuing institution's registry, and that the name, course, and issue date shown match that record exactly.
This usually means the ID was mistyped, includes extra spaces, or is missing a character. If you've checked it carefully against the original certificate and it still doesn't match, contact the issuing institution directly. They can confirm whether the record exists on their end.
No. Verification is open to anyone with a certificate ID. Employers, admissions teams, or the certificate holder themselves don't need to sign in or register.
Lookups aren't linked to a personal account. We log certificate ID searches only to prevent abuse and rate-limit excessive requests; we don't sell or share search activity with third parties. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Yes. If a credential is later revoked or found to be issued in error, the registry is updated, and future lookups reflect the current status rather than the original issue-time status.
Reach out through the contact page with the certificate ID in question, and we'll look into the discrepancy.
